Err.. that is definitely mentioned in the mission description. The whole thing about killing the guards before the little timer runs out......
Or maybe you just got too close to fortress Jahai..

yeah... I suggest that if you are going for survivor, make sure you know what to expect when you leave town (this is not meant to sound offensive, just so you know.).

Yeah that is pretty annoying.
Happened to me but I wasn't going for Survivor.
Now I read GuildWiki before missions

Doesn't it pop up with a huge red message saying "DO NOT GET ANY CLOSER TO THE FORTRESS! YOU WILL DIE!" if you get too close to the fortress? It gives some sort of warning somewhere throughout the mission. Those warning messages are really a godsend, don't you think?

My little Survivor monk made it through there without a scratch and got Master's as well. Just stay away from Morzek Garrison and you'll be fine. If you waste time killing the guards at the posts and get sieged to death, well, that's your own fault.

You got too close to the fortress. My guess would be that it happend when you were trying to capture the guard post just to the north of the fortress. That one is just on the edge of the fortress's range, and if you try to tackle it by going around to the south, you're gonna DIE! If you come at it from the north side, you'll be fine.
Sorry you lost your title.

This happened to me the first time I did that mission as well...the warning message came about 2 seconds before the party got bombarded to smithereens. It doesn't help that one of the guard posts is probably about 40 feet from the edge of the "blast zone".
